Collage
The past is never dead. It’s not even past.

Collage is defined as an assortment or collection of various materials combined and composed into a single new piece of art. Materials are glued onto a substrate or surface. The term collage was coined by Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque in the beginning of the 20th century when collage became a distinctive part of modern art.
My collage work is mainly a combination of cutting and piecing my own existing art to create a whole new completed art piece. My works were made using a variety of mediums which add depth, character and texture to a piece. Sometimes I include vintage book illustrations, text or other materials. The hope is that a curious viewer will be drawn into a mindful experience. At times I have chosen to coat the pieces in resin which to me represents a lasting narrative that cannot be altered.
I consider my collage art as abstract story boards or narratives. While I enjoy considering the use of texture, form, color and dimension as well as a lot of imagination in creating my work, one or more of the following mediums may have been used in each individual collaged piece: ink, watercolor, acrylic, printmaking, pastel, fabric, color pencil, photograph, paper, gold leaf, glass, vintage book illustrations, text, resin.
